If there's bad weather in the NYC area, things go off the rails pretty quickly across all of EWR/LGA/JFK (although JFK tends to fare a bit better, but it's still far from great).

Fortunately, for a flight that late in the day, you should know before you even head to CHS if things are delayed into JFK, so you'll probably also have CHS-ATL-LHR as a backup - or the later VS flight mentioned above. I'd just recommend you keep an eye on how things are going at JFK, and rebook ahead of time accordingly, if you can.
