I am considering booking a trip to Chicago for a long weekend in February. Unlike the other cities I'm considering (New York, Savannah, Miami, Cancun), the top hotel prices are practically reasonable! What are people's opinions on the Four Seasons, Langham, Waldorf Astoria, Peninsula, Sofitel, and/or Ritz-Carlton? Are there any others I've missed?

I have stayed at Langham and Four Seasons from your list - plus the Park Hyatt before its very recent renovation.
Langham comes close to being my favourite US hotel. The Four Seasons felt a bit long in the tooth. I did like the Park Hyatt even before the renovation, but it wasn't as fresh as the Langham. Now it's been renovated it would be a close contender once again for me.
