If you could pre-pay with SQ you probably wouldn’t want to. From recollection they charge excess luggage by the KG for extortionate rates…
Assuming you are transiting SIN, you will pay excess luggage charges at AKL (for the rate advertised on the Air NZ website) which will carry you through to your final destination. Note that you cannot pre-pay for excess luggage with Air NZ if you have another airline sector within 24 hours of your NZ arrival time.
I can’t remember what the rule is if you have a stopover (over 24 hours) as to what rates you’ll pay (if you booked on the Air NZ website this is normally on your e-ticket). However, I know you will need to pay two lots of excess charges (one for AKL-SIN and one for SIN-XXX).
