Reimbursement of annual fee if cancel card?
My wife would like to cancel her Gold card with the $250 fee, which makes sense given her very limited use of it. But given that it's her only Amex card, we want to get her another one (probably Green or Everyday Business Plus) before she cancels so she won't forfeit her substantial amount of MR points.
We're pretty confident she'll succeed in getting a new card. But if it doesn't arrive before her Gold card annual payment is due early next month, would she get reimbursed for paying that Gold card fee if she cancels it within 30 days of paying it and doesn't use it during that period? I vaguely recall something along these lines, though my recollection could be wrong.
If there are any alternative strategies for this situation, I'd welcome them.
Thanks for any help.
