That's irritating to hear, although I can appreciate that you have probably already spent the value of the interest charges in time on calls trying to get it back. I wouldn't think it's a primary objective for Amex to make customers feel as though they're playing "gotcha" with them, and nailing you for interest on a single day of aging and then making you call multiple times to get two penalty fees and interest waived. Folks should pay their bills on time, yes, and I suspect you'll endeavor to not make this mistake again, but it still doesn't leave a good taste in one's mouth.
