Some Parisien hotels offer an excellent breakfast. And just because it's a Marriott doesn't mean the breakfast is American. Ren Republique, for example, offered absolutely amazing croissants and pain au chocolat when I stayed several years ago.
I would hesitate to stay here based on UASPG's experience, but would not be so dismissive of OP's interest in a good hotel breakfast.
