Lack of Wifi on Guam Flights

A few thoughts, comments, and questions about the (lack of) wifi and Guam flights.

1. We all know that the 737-800s have the Thales system that only works on Mainland US. Since they rotate the fleet periodically due to the salty air in the pacific, I'm assuming that the current GUM fleet has the equipment on board. If that is the case, couldn't they turn on the PDE entertainment, use the wifi but without a connection outside the aircraft?

2. I'm assuming that the ViaSat system is the one that will be installed on all planes with Kirby's announcement of fast wifi on all planes. If that is the case, the coverage would have to be expanded from the current for Trans Atlantic flights only. This could mean a future for Wifi on GUM flights.
