I booked the same flight using Rapid rewards points for two different days as I am not sure which day I will fly.
How far in advance do I need to cancel a Southwest flight to receive a credit for my Rapid Rewards points and a refund for taxes paid?

Points bookings can be canceled right up until departure time (there might be a 1 hour prior to departure cutoff, honestly can't remember right now) and points will go back to the original account, and fees can be refunded.
Currently, even if you no-show a points booking the points go back to to the original account, and the fees are moved to a Travel Credit - however, we would really prefer that you cancel as early as possible so that we can resell that inventory (technically, one of the bookings would be "speculative" which is not allowed by our contract of carriage/T&Cs")
Edited to add: the no-show policy is changing effective July 1, 2023. Under new policy, points bookings (like monetary bookings) will need to be canceled at least 10 minutes prior to originally scheduled departure time, or points will be forfeited)
