Exactly, you can't come down steep/fast lest you smash the plane into the runway and it breaks apart. Gotta bring it down gently. On takeoff, there's no worry about smashing into the sky.

Of course at certain airports the approach will be steeper than normal, but still probably much less than takeoff. Aspen, CO (ASE) is nestled in the mountains which limits a long/slow approach and actually requires specific aircraft that have STOL (Short Take-off and Landing) capabilities.
