On departure on January 2nd, outgoing passport control towards the B-gates was an absolute zoo. Very busy, and also only 4 automated gates for EU passports were in use. It took us an hour and 10 minutes to clear passport control, and this was in the EU manual line where we were directed again (if it would have been the non-EU line it would have been longer). It seemed that the police was holding a "going strictly by the rules" strike action, which meant each passport check took at least 30 seconds.

This does not speak well for BRU as an airport, with these long waits.

Our Delta flight was held up 30 minutes so that all passengers could make it onto the flight.
