Virtually none of the major brand laptops have removable batteries anymore. Dell used to offer this on Latitude notebooks, but dropped it more than 5 years ago.
People travel with older laptops, and people travel with some of the newer laptops that continue to have removable batteries.
The question was why dont they just ban laptops not batteries. The answer is that not all laptops have non-removable batteries, even if most do not.
We all know that if they said all laptops were banned, someone would be on here complaining because they have a laptop with a removable battery and they should be allowed to check it.
