Of course they’re different. Primarily, if Friday’s event had ended like the one at TFN a lot of people would be dead and it would be the only thing on CNN for at least a week.
That in no way alters the fact that in my mind and the minds of many others who were alive in 1977 this event evoked memories of the Tenerife catastrophe.
