Seems this may not be a good time to alienate spenders in that bracket as many of its 2022 GS’s may be auto culled in a recession anyway. All United is doing to a GS who spent $50k in 22 and was downgraded to 1K is pushing them into the arms of other programs. And these folks may like the change! Likely very shortsighted!
Again, this assumes most GS are in it for the benefits. Speaking for my colleagues, the majority with GS have no idea what that means except they get to board first.
They’re extremely busy people booking UA because it’s the nonstop option (some are wise enough to love the Polaris seat) but almost none are booking on book or GS qualification. It’s a small subset of people with FT and other such AvGeeking like we do who really pay this kind of attention.
