CSR Reaching 48 Month Soon
Hey all,
My CSR will reach 48 months since it was first opened in March, which I believe is when I become eligible to earn a new Sapphire bonus if I don't hold a product. I am thinking about trying out either the Venture X or Amex Platinum, so I might downgrade to avoid paying the CSR fee this year. Ideally after downgrading I would then sign back up to either the CSR or the CSP next time there is a good sign up bonus offer.
My biggest concern is that I have a few hundred thousand UR points attached to the CSR right now which I will not spend in their entirely by March (Some I will transfer to Hyatt since I can find good uses for them, but I would like to keep some for future airline partner transfers). If I downgrade the CSR will I be able to keep the points? I already have a Freedom Flex, so I believe I can transfer the points there. Then once I re-open a Sapphire account I could just transfer the points back. Does this sound like it would work?
Another concern of mine is whether I will be able to apply for another Sapphire card in the future if I downgrade now. I have 5 personal Chase cards currently (combination of Chase and Partner Cards) and last time I applied for the Southwest card I had to move the credit limits around my existing Chase cards before being approved. If I'm unable to re-apply for a Sapphire in the future it would limit my ability to use the points for partner transfers again.
I would appreciate any thoughts if someone has been in a similar situation before. Thanks!
