In any case, I’ll just accept that DL may block 25%+ of the no fee seats, and that’s just how it works. It reduces the value of main fares. The family explanation is wrong because several were scattered. And regarding the comment that other airlines are just as bad, I can look at similar BOS-MIA on AA vs BOS-MCO on DL and there is no comparison outside of the last row (making a dummy purchase without using my elite status).
