I'm not a very frequent flier, but what's the worst that can happen if you ask? It's the same thing that would 100% happen if you don't ask, other than being told "no".

Couldn't hurt to try. And maybe even if they won't grant MVP, maybe they will throw some other bone that is still better than what you would get by not asking.
