Thanks for starting this thread, JackMackey. I was looking for London restaurant ideas for a special occasion and I've always wanted to try Beef Wellington. Savoy Grill worked out well. I tend to be fairly frugal, so this made for an excellent experience. I was a bit early for my reservation, so the hostess invited me to go to the American Bar for a drink. I can't think of any time where a) I've been taken to a seat at a 'bar' nor anytime where the hostess actually came to find me and escort me to my table for dinner. (You know - most places give you a pager.) With regards to being a tourist attraction, I don't know. On a Tuesday evening, the place was full. I was seated in the center, so a lot of tables around me; I didn't hear any non-England accents.
