It appears that the resort fees are no longer for resorts, and now we apparently are being ask to pay an upcharge at many properties regardless of any real amenities!
This is not that new, and has been the source of much discussion on this forum. It's likely this new topic will be merged with one of the existing topics, such as this one:
Resort fees, destination fees and associated issues (points, waivers, etc.)
So far, I've successfully avoided paying a mandatory resort fee / destination fee / garbage fee.
When a property charges such a mandatory fee, it's telling me it doesn't want my business.
