I wouldn't count on that. A recent flight that I took with QF was delayed with 2 pax offloaded due to not getting visa processed sufficient to satisfy QF. Both pax were in transit from EK who either hadn't checked visa status or assumed it would be sorted in the day from check in with EK until the flight to NZ departed.
