"Please send copies of your birth certificate..."
While trying to book online using my BA Exec Club miles, I got an error message indicating that BA needed the birth dates for the two adult members of my household account.
I sent an email to BA customer service, providing the birth dates and asked them to update their records.
BA responded: "You will need to send in
copies of birth certificates pertaining to yourself and Mrs _______
to your Member Services, where our staff would be glad to update the
details on your account upon verification of the documents"
Copies of our birth certificates?!?! I wrote back, telling BA they were crazy, but they insisted, citing "British privacy laws."
Has anyone heard of this?
[By the way, I did eventually manage to enter the birthdates online in the account management area, so the requirement to send in documentation appears to be another typical BA administrative screw up]
