I own several Travelpro bags, both Platinums and Maxlites. The Maxlites are absolutely lighter and I have no quibble with the tie-downs. I agree with you that two wheels are better than four, primarily for navigating cobbled streets and sidewalks. As you know, two wheels instead of four mean slightly more packing room, maybe 10-15% more.
The Platinum Elite line is definitely higher quality, but with that comes more weight, I did take my Platinum carryon spinner to Europe for a month last year. For those who want a spinner, I definitely suggest the more sturdy Platinum wheels. Legionnaire, if you travel overseas I would definitely recommend an international size. If your travel is domestic U.S., then the larger capacity of a slightly bigger size would be good. I cannot comment on the VersaPack, as I haven't seen that line in person.
