Or will I need to make a completely new booking for this person - using my second space release (which I think I still have, and my year will end on Feb 8 ) to free up an avios one way booking for her? Is this second option even possible, because there is already a space released being used on the flight = mine! ? Thanks for any advice. I will call up the GGL Line in the morning.
I don't think you can do this. You would be able to add another person to the whole booking (out and return), but not to one leg as they'll need a different PNR.
You can use your other space release, however. The rule is that only 5 seats on any one cabin can be taken using a space release - not that only one space release can be used. So if you've only booked one seat, in theory another 4 seats could be booked using a space release in that cabin. Subject to the underlying fare code required being available, of course.
