In addition the seems like two unrelated data problems, the recycled baggage number and the mismatch on the Worldtracer reference which presumably begins EDIBA. Now in both case the Baggage Team can work backwards so should be able to help, just keep calling, people clearly can get through, given the posts we see elsewhere on the subject. I wouldn't worry too much, I'm not convinced there is a labelling error here, but it does highlight the importance of putting a piece of paper on the top of the bag with your contact details on it.
Thanks CWS as ever.

It was, in the end, sorted (well bags not received yet) when I got through to BA Baggage. Kudos to the (offshore I think) call centre. This was actually one of the rare circumstances where I have found BA non-First customer service to be helpful, efficient, and competent. The operator took the bag numbers, looked them up and quickly ascertained that I had been given the wrong reference number (out by 1 digit) and gave me the correct one. Only negative was she had advised that all bags went on the same flight to the destination airport whereas in reality Worldtracer shows that they came over on 3 different flights.

People (me included) tend not to come on here to share good experiences of BA but on this occasion their CS line were on the ball.
