You can always pay for seat selection. It’s pocket money compared to the ticket you bought for the instrument.
And if you don't get the seat you paid for, AC just refunds the seat selection fee that was paid for your recorder or whatever.
I'm not saying it won't work out, I'm just curious if the policy actually seats the instrument next to you. Or would normally provide seat at the rear of the cabin against a bulkhead for the instrument to minimize chances for injury. (Although in this case, there's a tiny, or no instrument being transported)
