Seems to be working for me now too but not without my own intervention. Since people here were now having success and I wasn't I decided to try it myself.
1. Went to Royal Jordanian and deleted my AA number from the booking
2. Confirmed it was gone on the BA site and on AA since my booking now was asking me to sign up for AA. At this point the option to add a FF number will be available on BA (you can't delete or change it on BA if there is one there)
3. Went back to RJ and added my AA number.
4. Confirmed the number was added by checking back on AA
5. Then back to BA but noticed the number was not populated.
6. Checked seating and could see that seat selection was now free.
7. Waited a bit to see if BA would populate my AA number but it did not so I manually added it back then double checked that seats were still free and they were.
The one thing that is not clear to me is where I can see my OW Sapphire status on the BA booking. Anyone know where to find this?
PS. I had tried all these steps in the past days with no luck
