I was going to say, the only real competitor would be the Ritz Carlton, which seems to be going for >$1.5K a night and is also pretty dated. I haven’t stayed at the Edition but the reviews look pretty questionable.
I thought the Ritz-Carlton, Mesm, and Prince Gallery had nicer hard products. The RC is less dated than the PH and is more comfortable. Prince Gallery and Mesm were much less expensive - PG had a fantastic hard product marred by a worse breakfast. Mesm was pretty much the full package with fantastic hard product, detailed and thorough soft product (better and less awkward than PH), and delicious breakfast.
