hydro, it is not about having a presence "everywhere", it is about having a certain base level, the strength to stay in a market long enough to gain traction and most importantly to have the wherewithal to get into and grow into expanding markets. BA actively did NOT fly to PVG for close to a decade. They actually turned down flying there twice, and only had interest once VS started flying there, and Chinese carriers had flooded the market from multiple cities. You think abandoning ICN was a good idea?
Anyhow when you add these short term business outlooks, to less investment, especially in premium product, this is what you get, literally more than 75% of the market voting with their feet and flying with other carriers whether flying O/D or over the UK.
