When I rent a car, I will take a photo of my personal toll transponder in front of the rental car license plate. This I use in any subsequent dispute in Platepass (along with a copy of my latest transponder account statement) that I had my transponder in my rental vehicle. In those situations, Plateaus ends up charging my credit card only for the toll amount, not any of their service fees.
I was just told they only provide one waiver of the service fees in the renter's lifetime. Do you get pushback when trying to do that?
They also claimed I can call NY E-ZPass to have them override the registration to another account (i.e. they will remove the plate from the other account and put it on mine) because another renter likely registered it, but I still think it is Hertz/PlatePass who's registering these vehicles and that E-ZPass might not be able to override that.
