When you add a virtual suica/pasmo to your iphone wallet (or I assume google wallet works the same way) it is all done on the phone via credit card. Part of what makes it so great - PASMO in particular still codes as travel, so up until the recent VISA issue started in August, recharging with a travel credit card meant you'd get your travel spend bonus on whatever you used PASMO to pay for. Since foreign visas are currently not working, I use my apple card right now which at least gets 2% back.
Has there been any update on VISA cards not working for the transit card recharge on iPhone? I was in Japan a few months ago and had to reluctantly use my Amex for only 1x points. Hoping VISA will work for my next trip to Japan this summer to take advance of 3x points on travel.
