I agree it's a great aircraft for operators but plain old technology comfort wise from a pax perspective. My preference for flying goes something like this: A380, A350, (almost equal) B787. After all I'm paying for maximum comfort when flying not the operators convenience. These days that goes beyond the soft and hard product of the operating carrier but also the aircraft type being flown.
I am very different in that aspect, I have little preference for the aircraft and much more preference for the airline and specific cabin layout I fly. My jetlag and travel tiredness probably comes from other aspects, I just can't register any particular difference whether I have been on a 777 or a 787. The flights between Japan and Europe are pretty long these days, Tokyo to London via the Pacific, Northern Canada and Greenland is quite a detour. But good views if you get it in day time. West around Ukraine and south around Russia from Helsinki to Tokyo is a bit of a drag though.

Though if I do have an aircraft family I avoid, it is the A330/A340 but that is more that the cabin feels rather cramped compared to all the others, particularly if you are in a window seat the curvature of the cabin is quite steep. In the end, timing and airline still means more to me than avoiding an A330, and the A340 pretty much solved the conundrum by itself.
