Sometimes the AS system can be glitchy. Just check your bags with an agent at the airport - you can use the priority lane so it should be a quick process.
That's good if the line is short, and if you know the AS computers are faulty. Doesn't help passengers in lots of other circumstances. I believe Alaska's obligation under law is to charge the right amount through all channels -- not to charge correctly through humans but incorrectly online and through kiosks.
