Is it just your dates? Or is it a general problem with 5-night award stays? Some hotels really don't want award guests and blocking 5-night award stays is one way to do that.

Sometimes it's just the fact that the exact same standard room - i.e. 2 Queens or 1 King - isn't available for all 5 nights, but availbility might shift over time and you can cancel and rebook later.
I believe it's just those dates. Cuz I was able to book other dates for 5-night reservation with points for the same property.

If I contact the property directly, will they be able to merge two bookings?
