No problem.

United offers Complimentary Premier Upgrades (CPU) to its members with status. Since first class was only half full, either there were no premier members left in economy, or they were all ineligible for an upgrade on that trip (likely because they were traveling with a group / family; CPUs apply to a maximum of one companion).

It's nice to see infrequent UA fliers come away with a positive opinion. I'm glad you enjoyed the flight.
