There was a pre-Covid block for departures between 1:30PM and 4:00PM and between 900 and 1500 miles. That block is gone now, so JAC-ATL should at least get a cold meal box (JAC is one of the exception markets that doesn't get hot meals).
I thought it was around after the sad boxes came online. Regardless, happy to hear theu got rid of it. It never made sense to me. It always caused confusion on SLC-SAT/AUS and v.v. The timing of flights meant that one way would get but not the other. Plus timing changes meant sometimes it was outbound and sometimes inbound that got meal or not. FA were always confused.
