As I’ve said before in this thread, the reason why I’d sue Singapore Airlines and Budget Air isn’t over their Brevement policy. Prior to the return flight, Singapore airlines changed the departure time of my Bangkok to Singapore flight by 3hours, 45 minutes. By international rules, I am entitled to either change the date of the return or get a refund. It is under those rules that I would sue them.
My first offer from Singapore airlines when I initially found out that I’d have to fly back for the funeral was to change it for $1,650. Why should I expect them to be fair now?

“Hello Dean,

Thank you for writing to us,

Unfortunately, the airline will not refund the amount paid for birth certificate and also we do not know the refund value unless the airline approves, kindly forward us the documents requested to check with the airlines for refund.

Appreciate your understanding.

Kind regards,
Budgetair Customer Service

Anand”

I’ll play this out. If they offer me anything less than $369 (half the cost of my $674 ticket, plus half of the $64 paid for seat assignments), I’ll go the suing route.
