BA283 (LHR-LAX) - awful timekeeping

Taking this flight in a week or so (the 10.10 departure) and have a tight connection at LAX, so have been keeping a close eye on delays. The flight seems to be picking up regular 2 hour delays, today being no exception. The plane used for the route always seems to have overnighted at LHR, which you would think would reduce delay risks, but there are clearly regular boarding, slot or runway issues. Bizarrely, the days there is an assigned gate seem to be worse than the days the dreaded A10 is used. These are then exacerbated by long flight times at present (presumably there are strong-... jet streams at the moment).

My connecting flight is a separate ticket but is refundable (I have a 2hr 15m window), and am strongly considering booking a later flight, also refundable, as my chances dont look that good... (I know, it is impossible to predict what happens on the day, but it doesnt stop me planning...)

Anyone taken this flight recently got any insight as to what is causing the delays?
