Japan custom - Pickled green olive without water nor original container
Hi
I'm flying from US (United) , and having a 36h transit at Haneda Tokyo. Due to the long period, I'm afraid I may have to check out my luggage then re-check in. No help from US or Japan when I asked them whether I need to take my luggage out at Japan.
In my check-in luggage there are pickled olives.
I wonder if it can be brought into Japan during my transit. If yes, what should I declare as ?
Any of you have successfully brought olive into Japan ? They are still quite green, with seeds, not in original container. I put it in a 1.5l water bottle, water removed to be lighter. Is it still ok ? Do they consider "plant" or "fruit", something that can still grow ? It's a specialty carried from France as gift, I wouldn't want them to be thrown away. Should I fill it with water after taking out the luggage, before custom, to make it look like pickled ?
Thank you.
