I just stayed at the Courtyard Honmachi and enjoyed it. Central location and walking distance to Osaka Castle and Dotonbori (20 minutes roughly) or you can take the metro and get most places within 5-20 minutes as there are 2 stops right by the hotel (Sakaisuji Hommachi and Hommachi). Its not luxury obviously but gets the job done and around $100-150 a night seems to be the going rate.
