I reached the 70 night requirement in 2022 to be able to gift Diamond status to a "friend" or "family member" by the end of this month. All my friends and family who travel often and stay in Hiltons already have Diamond status. The Diamond status would likely go to waste with everyone else with whom I'm close. Are there any other options available? I was curious if it could be sold, and when I looked on Ebay, I saw some sellers offering it. However, it looked a bit dodgy, because the seller was required to set up a brand new account with the buyers name, but with a new email address and phone number that buyers didn't have linked to any Hilton accounts. I assume selling the status or donating it to someone I don't know is illegal because the offer states in the email "The elite status gifting claim code has to be shared with a friend or family member." Correct? I don't want my Hilton Honors account closed over gifting status for money or charity.
