2.2 km is 1 1/3 m and just inside the definition of a short walk (30 mins walking not very fast). But yes, bus or cab between the stations is more convenient with luggage.
If it's cab from the hotel I'd be inclined to go to Oriente station instead of Santa Apolonia, traffic will be less of an issue (but the fare will be higher).
