Are there still some bigger airports where LH does not pay for lounge access as they did during the flu pike? TK Elite status is valid for two years, that is the biggest period with lesser miles required on any Star Alliance FFP. With usual re-qualification on the first membership year, it is really no brainer. Better to have status than not. When flying in economy, I prefer LO to any other LHG airline, because *G gives free seat selection, free 1 bag for status passengers intra-Europe. About LH seat selection you are right, even their own SEN cannot select the seat during the check-in free of charge when flying in economy class in Europe.

Thanks for a clear respons to these arguments we read so often. The point is that I would do the flying anyway, so earning and renewing status at the same time is a welcome perk.
I hadn't heard about the LO *A Gold benefits yet. Thanks for pointing them out...
