Yes, you can keep TK status for years and years by taking 1-2 long haul flights in J every second year.

Then after a few years of doing this - as I have been doing - then you realise that *G status doesn't get you seat selection, baggage, sometimes even lounge access on LH, TP, UA, etc. on cheap Basic / Lite fares and that you don't really get any extra *G benefits on those paid J flights you take every couple of years to renew the status... (not even relevant amounts of bonus miles)

So eventually you get bored, especially when dealing with TK's hard expiry policy on mileage balances...
