I just finished a stay at a Sunrise Water Villa. Yes, they have been renovated. The Sunrise villas are on top of a beach, so the water can be as shallow as you want. In the immediate vicinity of the staircase, it's pretty shallow, maybe 4 ft or so. If you wander around, it may reach about 5 ft. There is also a big "hole" within swimming distance of the villas that is much much deeper, if you want to go deeper. The water isn't rough by any means, but there can sometimes be a bit of a current running parallel to the shore. We saw a couple of rays, a shark, many small fish, and several George's right next to our villa. Two of the George's liked to guard our front door against intruders at times

Thanks for sharing. May I ask which room number your stay. Looking at the image, somehow I think your room is very close to the boat dock. Am I correct.
I wonder if you have stay at CR before the pandemic. If so, can you please share your thought about buffet breakfast dishes before and now.
By the way, the requirement to enter and exit Maldives is only the health declare form to be filled online. There is no other requirement. Can someone please confirm it. I just want to make sure I am not missing important things.
I like renovation room, but prefer the old room layout . To me, it seems there more empty space to move around.
