As I'm sure you are aware the enlightened government of San Seriffe has recently introduced an Passenger Air Navigation Turmoil Scheme, which provides for compensation up to 28 million pesos. After a recent BA flight from Bodoni to London was disrupted by food poisoning on an epic scale, and the usual prolonged wait for a reply from Customer Relations, you managed to extract the maximum compensation amount and £18.22 was duly deposited in your account. You then say to BA "but what about EC261 / UK261?" After a further delay, BA agrees and pays you £501.78. You are not in any meaningful sense able to claim that BA has underpaid you on EC261.
