Covid has caused hotels to seek income from where they can. Some have gone too far, eg Hilton East Midlands Airport who charge Diamonds for car parking and provide no benefits and shabby rooms. Why would I stay there? It’s off my list.
I have noticed things are starting to improve in some hotels - they seem to have come out of the we need to save every penny mode. Biscuits in the room with the team are coming back.sometimes after a meal a small sugary treat is nice.
I like the London Hilton Metrpole. They have spent a lot on upgrading rooms and have expanded the lounge, provided extensive food and premium drinks.. Thai has meant though the swimming pool has been lost. I enjoy staying there and going to the close by sea food canal boat restaurant. I did like the Birmingham Metropole lounge too.
Interesting, I liked the old executive lounge at Birmingham too even though the new one is far superior, I just loved the vibe and had some great memories there, even made some friends.
I quite like Hilton East Midlands Airport, I like the spa even though it’s nothing fancy, I also like the deluxe rooms on the top floor with the skylight windows….although I do agree they don’t look after Diamonds too much.
I’ve not stayed at the London metropole yet since the refurbished lounge but I’ve heard great reports from other forums and colleagues
