The hotel is very classic, but it has clearly been modernized and renovated where it really counts. The fixtures, water heat/pressure, street noise cancellation, wi-fi, and everything else just works like it is the 21st Century. Achieving modern efficiency and functionality without diminishing the "palais" vibe just felt cool and comfortable. Everything works like it is brand new.
I was upgraded to a suite on the end of the horseshoe. Wow. It features a completely unobstructed giant window view straight to the beach and ocean. Plus a separate window on the northern wall, facing up the beach/coast. Plus a balcony inside the horseshoe above the courtyard. It is like being surrounded by the sea, experiencing all views of it simultaneously. With the balcony door open, the sound of the waves pervades the room with surprisingly little street noise.
After a few hours, I decided to triple my stay from two to six nights. Globalist treatment was superb, the staff not only friendly but also exceptionally competent and professional. Of course, the breakfast layout doesn't change enough to sustain much variety over an entire week, but the offerings were solid.
I only had two days of business in Nice, but I could have easily stayed at this property for two weeks.
We just booked a first trip to Nice for September and plan to stay here using a SUA. Your suite seemed quite special and I wonder if you recall the floor or room number? From some other comments, I should request a 9th floor suite with a sea view (knowing I might not get this!)? When you say the suite was on the end of the horseshoe, I'm wondering if I put that in my notes, the hotel would understand what that means? Many thanks in advance for any guidance.
