The queue situation is evident when you enter the immigration hall. Queue lengths are not relayed to other parts of the airport, or, indeed, elsewhere: and Ive no idea what use the information might be - beyond preparing you mentally for the ordeal .
The general system is a single queue, multi-server effort, often with that efficiency defeated by "helpers" organising mini-queues in front of each server.
depending on the number of flights recently arrived, and the origin of those flights, the general queue can range from bad to depressingly bad.
there are other single-server lines for special cases, but supervisors monitor access to these like hawks. Maybe one of these will evolve into premium-class arrivals, though that arrangement can be inefficient, especially with an army of Saphires/Emeralds-in-Y seeking similar treatment.
The joy I expressed in my earlier post was to discover QR status will get me through to the enhanced immigration reserved for QR's premium-classes (and me

). I hadnt been aware of that, and it's still not clear if I can waltz through on the strength of my Plat number. The website is of course a perfect mess when it comes to explanation and direction: but it seems they want us to pre-register by email. A bit of a nonsense, but presumably it cuts down on the numbers clogging up the Maha facility
I'll be there this weekend. Can't be arsed with more emails, so we'll see what happens.
