Had an experience that was not so great earlier this week, but worked around it to have an acceptable outcome.

Fam and I (4 pax) were on a flight from PPT to SFO (in Polaris), where we had a 2 hour connection for SFO-EWR. PPT flight was delayed at first by 1 hour due to incoming aircraft delay. This made the connection very short, but still possible (all of us have GE so SFO immigration is fast). However the aircraft stayed at the gate in PPT an extra hour, and we were told by the captain that they were waiting for a delayed passenger and his/her bags. This effectively caused all of us to miss our connection and I lost my confirmed Polaris upgrade from SFO - EWR. I have to question the operational decision at PPT to wait for 1 pax, causing multiple other pax (I'm sure there were others beyond my family) to miss their connections, especially if 1 or more of those pax are GS. Though I have heard of aircraft sometimes waiting a few extra minutes for connecting passengers, I have never heard of a wait for just 1 passenger and for 1 extra hour.

Anyway, the GS agent at SFO rebooked us in economy on a later SFO-EWR flight that day. After checking other flight options I found a SFO-ATL connection with PN5 and called the GS desk to change the return to EWR via ATL. Not Polaris but atleast got domestic first for the flight to ATL. ATL-EWR was a short flight so didn't care about upgrades on that one.
