I never get an e mail upgrade offer (EXP). My daughter with no status gets these. In a previous thread on this topic, I recall someone posting that "high elites" don't get these, which is inconsistent with the OP post. Moreover, I have not had much luck lately getting upgraded no doubt because the various strategies, including this to monetize first class seats. Like others, I am no longer even expecting upgrades, except when traveling with Mrs. Remedy when I use miles and money - even then only getting on the wait list albeit at the top. Recent experience: #1 & 2 on the waitlist but did not clear PHX - CMH (12/8) but got upgraded 7 days out on the way back (1/4). There were 16 people on the upgrade waitlist on the 1/4 flight, none of whom cleared at the gate.

On topic: why do some get these e mail offers and others do not since status does not seem to be the reason?
