Have some Osaka specific questions that I was hoping I could tap into the hive mind for answers to:

I am looking to try to stay at a Marriott property in Osaka. Have booked the Moxy in Honmachi and Fairfield near Namba. I was wondering if any of you had any experience with these properties?

If not was wondering if there were any thoughts on the Honmachi and Namba areas? The Fairfield in particular looks close to Namba station. We’re mainly going to look at using Osaka as a base to check out things like Osaka Castle, Universal Studios, Koshien, and then enjoy streetscapes such as Dotonbori.

Namba looks like it’s a fair 20-30 minute walk north of any of the “sketchier” areas.

For non Marriott properties has anyone stayed at Hotel the Leben?

thanks all for your input
I did not stay at the Fairfield but it was part of one of the hotels I considered. It is in a pretty good area as you are close to all the Namba railway stations (JR Namba, Nankai Namba, Osaka-Namba and Namba Subway). My only gripe is you have to walk around 8-10 minutes before you hit the exciting parts of Namba (Dontonbori/Namba Parks/Sennichimae) area.

In contrast I stayed on the "other side" at Citadines Namba on Nipponbashi which is also a 8-10 min walk from Dontonbori/Namba Parks/Sennichimae but there are a lot to see on the way there. Only problem is it is far from the Namba railway stations but Namba Walk makes the walk a little better.

I wouldn't even consider Moxy Honmachi as you're not within walking distance of anything exciting. After my trip I'd consider anything 15 minutes/1KM a fairly far walk as you'll be walking a lot everyday.
